RESUMO Teletandem é um contexto virtual, autônomo e colaborativo no qual dois falantes de línguas diferentes utilizam recursos de tecnologia VOIP (texto, voz e imagem de webcam) para ajudar o parceiro a aprender a sua língua materna (ou linguagem de proficiência). Este trabalho enfoca os processos de estudo e respostas dos alunos ao contexto do teletandem. Dados quantitativos e qualitativos de 134 estudantes universitários foram coletados através de um questionário online. Os resultados revelam o conteúdo dos processos de aprendizagem, atividades, estratégias e recursos adotados pelos alunos. Concluímos com uma discussão crítica acerca dos resultados e levantamos implicações pedagógicas desta modalidade de contato intercultural online para aprender línguas estrangeiras.

ABSTRACT Teletandem is a virtual, collaborative, and autonomous context in which two speakers of different languages use the text, voice, and webcam image resources of VOIP technology (Skype) to help each other learn their native language (or language of proficiency). This paper focuses on learners' studying processes and their responses to teletandem. We collected quantitative and qualitative data from 134 university students through an online questionnaire. Results show the content of students' learning processes, resources, activities, and strategies. We conclude with a critical discussion of the results and raise pedagogical implications for the use o-f teletandem as a mode of online intercultural contact to learn foreign languages.

A Pesquisa Narrativa de Clandinin & Connelly (2000) compreende a experiência humana como histórias vividas e contadas. Nesta abordagem qualitativa de pesquisa, os participantes contam histórias e os pesquisadores as recontam e as reconstroem por meio de narrativas acerca das experiências. Tendo este arcabouço metodológico como orientador de nossos procedimentos de pesquisa, neste artigo investigamos nossa experiência compartilhada de aprendizagem in-tandem do português e do italiano - no caso, uma experiência de oito meses por meio de um tandem face-a-face. Neste período, vivenciamos e coletamos dados acerca de nosso processo de aprender a língua um do outro: anotações de campo, mensagens reflexivas de e-mail trocadas durante o período e o conteúdo anotado durante as aulas. Ao reviver nossas histórias vividas durante aquele período, por meio da narrativa aqui apresentada, ressaltamos os elementos de identidade no nosso tandem que acreditamos estarem relacionados à aprendizagem. Também individuamos os elementos desencadeadores de identidade específicos deste contexto de aprendizagem.

Narrative Inquiry (Clandinin & Connelly, 2000) understands human experience as lived and told stories. Within this qualitative mode of research, participants tell stories and researchers retell and reconstruct them through narratives about the experiences. By having this methodological framework as the backbone of our research, we have conducted a narrative inquiry into our shared experience of in-tandem learning of Portuguese and Italian - an eight month experience of a face-to-face tandem. Within this period we experienced and collected data about our learning processes of learning each other's languages: field notes, reflexive e-mail messages exchanged during that period and our notes during our lessons. As we relive our stories of that period by means of the narrative we present here, we want to highlight the identity elements in our tandem that we found to be related to learning. We also wish to point out the triggering elements of identity that are peculiar to this learning context.

Neste artigo, o autor descreve dois estudos, realizados com professores, nos quais objetos de arte são usados como dispositivos deflagradores de reflexão compartilhada. Teoricamente fundamentado em uma nova modalidade de investigação qualitativa no campo da Educação - a Pesquisa Educacional com Base nas Artes (PEBA) -, ele discute particularidades do funcionamento e do papel dessa modalidade de pesquisa no desenvolvimento profissional docente, as diferentes naturezas dos dois objetos de arte utilizados (a fotografia e o espetáculo teatral) e aponta para duas principais vertentes dessa modalidade de pesquisa - a vertente de produção de significados, pela qual o educador de professores e os participantes da pesquisa compartilham e constroem significados ao entrarem em contato com um objeto de arte previamente pronto e confeccionado por um artista profissional; e a vertente representacional, pela qual os professores e educadores participantes constroem, individualmente ou de forma compartilhada, um determinado objeto de arte que reflita e expresse suas representações do mundo da docência. Por fim, o artigo sugere que a PEBA, além de estabelecer contextos reflexivos nos quais alunos e professores têm oportunidades de desvelar a experiência estética, instaura relações alternativas dos participantes com o conhecimento e com a prática pedagógica, evidenciando sua importância social e suas forças revitalizadoras.

The author describes in this article two studies conducted with teachers, in which art objects are used as devices to trigger shared reflection. Theoretically grounded in a novel modality of qualitative investigation in the field of Education - Arts-based Educational Research (ABER), the text discusses peculiarities of the working and role of this research mode in teacher professional development, the different natures of the two art objects employed (photography and theater), and points to the two main tendencies within this research mode - the tendency of meaning production, in which the teacher educator and the participants in the research share and build meanings by coming in contact with an art object previously prepared by a professional artist; and the representationist tendency, in which participating teachers and educators construct, individually or in shared fashion, a certain art object that reflects and expresses their representations of the world of teaching. Lastly, the article suggests that ABER, apart from establishing contexts of reflection in which students and teachers have the opportunity to unfold the aesthetic experience, institutes alternative relationships of the participants with the pedagogical knowledge and practice, revealing its social import and its renewing force.

Este artigo relata os resultados de um estudo realizado com alunas de graduação em Letras, Português - Língua Estrangeira (Inglês, Espanhol, Italiano, Japonês, Francês e Alemão). Objetivou verificar as metáforas, regras da prática e princípios que as alunas identificaram durante um processo de reflexão sobre suas formações profissionais. Foi possível identificar o impacto desses elementos em seus processos individuais de desenvolvimento de identidades como professoras. O resultado foi um conjunto de histórias biográficas escritas (fontes de experiências) nas quais as participantes se baseavam para constituir suas identidades profissionais como professoras de línguas estrangeiras. Nesses processos, elas puderam construir ligações significativas entre os aspectos teóricos evidenciados nas leituras que realizaram durante o período da pesquisa e os vários eventos marcantes de suas narrativas orais acerca da carreira profissional. A associação dos vários aspectos de suas histórias pessoais às questões teóricas que foram discutidas durante a pesquisa revela processos de construções de identidades profissionais como professoras de línguas estrangeiras.

This paper reports on a study conducted with female pre-service teachers along the four years of their undergraduate program with major in Portuguese and a Foreign Language (English, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, French or German). The objective was to examine the metaphors, rules of practice and principles that they brought to their process of reflection upon their professional development. I have also identified the roles of these elements in their individual processes of developing their professional identity as teachers. The results were a set of written biographical stories (sources of experiences) in which the participants base themselves to constitute their professional identities as teachers of foreign languages. Within this process, they were able to construct meaningful connections between the theoretical aspects of readings that were undertaken during the research period and the many marking events of their oral narratives about their professional development. The association of the various aspects of their personal stories with the theoretical issues that were discussed during the research reveals processes of professional identity construction as teachers of foreign languages.

O presente trabalho trata das perspectivas estigmatizantes que duas professoras de língua portuguesa trazem em relação às variações lingüísticas não-padrão de seus alunos. Teoricamente, meu estudo se embasa na Psicologia dos Construtos Pessoais, Transformação de Perspectivas na Educação de Professores, Bi-dialetalismo Transformador e Sensibilidade Crítica à Linguagem. Meus objetivos foram acessar e ponderar sobre as teorias implícitas das professoras sobre linguagem não-padrão e verificar como tais teorias afetam suas pedagogias. Suas aulas foram gravadas em vídeo e atividades com Mapas do Repertório de seus conceitos sobre língua portuguesa foram gravadas em áudio, transcritas e analisadas segundo a abordagem tematizante da Fenomenologia Hermenêutica. O estudo mostra que as teorias implícitas das duas professoras sobre variação lingüística definem suas posturas pedagógicas com base no déficit lingüístico e na gramática. Tais posturas estão em constante tensão com a experiência vivida dos professores no campo da linguagem e da pedagogia, com as restrições das instituições escolares e com falhas de suas formações universitárias.

This paper focuses on teachers' stigmatizing perspectives of their students' nonstandard varieties of Portuguese. Theoretically, the study was grounded on Personal Construct Psychology, Perspective Transformation in Teacher Education, Transformative Bidialectalism and Critical Language Awareness. The objectives were to jointly access and assess the teachers’ implicit theories about nonstandard language and to verify to what extent these theories affected their classroom pedagogy. My research questions turned to how the participating teachers understood nonstandard language; and to how their understandings are reflected on their language teaching. The viewing of the teachers’ videotaped classes and Repertory Grid activities inspired reflective conversations with the two teacher participants on their language and classroom experiences. These conversations were audio-recorded, transcribed and their analysis followed the thematizing approach of Hermeneutic Phenomenology. The study revealed teachers’ implicit theories about language variation defining pedagogies based on deficit and standard grammar perspectives. These pedagogies are in constant interaction with the teachers’ lived experiences, the contextual restrictions of schools and the limitations of teacher education programs.
